Offering hope beyond the limits of illiteracy
We envision a world where people are functionally literate in their societies, starting with every child who can’t yet read.
Our story
Kusoma Tu is Swahili for “reading, period.” We work to improve literacy for children and adults with weak reading skills.
We launched in 2009 after an exam candidate confessed she couldn’t read or write. Beginning with one volunteer and three books, we started a reading programme in Kawangware and Jamhuri primary schools in Nairobi.
